Сроки выхода WF5 отодвинуты (извиняюсь за англ буквы)
There has been an executive decision to extend the time for L-03 (Wildfire 5.0) FCS release to develop series of strategically important capabilities to further leverage the power of Microsoft's SharePoint technology to improve product development processes for our customers and prospects.
As we have been exploring ways to exploit the Microsoft technology stack, including SharePoint and Office Communicator Server, it has become clear that there are many places in our own products, including Pro/ENGINEER, where we could better expose the capabilities provided by those tools, and others like them, to allow our customers to take advantage of commonly used tools such as Instant Messaging, presence detection, content and people tagging, Wikis, and other "social networking" or "social computing" tools to accelerate the pace of their own Product Development activities.
This initiative would allow PTC to expose many of these Web 2.0 technologies in a way that further differentiates our CAD and PLM tools, and makes the entire PDS more compelling overall.
As it relates to Pro/ENGINEER, a team under Boris Rabinovich is currently investigating the costs and the scope of what can be delivered with L-03 to introduce some of the above capabilities in Pro/E and a very preliminary assessment suggests that we would need several additional weeks to do that.
In addition, there have been another important Change Request related to improving usability, namely: further modernization of the "look and feel" of Pro/E. Phil Muller drives this initiative which requires changes to the Pro/E "skin" and this task also requires additional time.
The changes derived from these two major initiatives should affect a finite number of areas and people. So, the rest of the organization must continue to focus on fixing SPRs of L-03 as their highest priority and take advantage of this extra time to ensure the highest possible quality of the L-03 release.
By early February, we should have clarity on the actual delay of the L-03 FCS and, at that point, the new date will be set and communicated. Meanwhile, I would like to reiterate and ask all of you, to continue to work on resolving L-03 SPRs.
